Bioenergy a low carbon solution?
What did we do?
Bioenergy was the topic of one of the groups in the Joensuu pilot course. First two days students learned basic things about low carbon society, and the work methods in the pilot course. After these days students had three days for case study visits and lectures which were based on their topic. For instance, this group visited cooperative bioenergy production place and university of applied sciences bioenergy research centre.
Based on these study visits students made a scientific poster and a video. The idea behind these presentations was to present an answer to a real-life work-related problem. In this case, their job was to answer how we can promote bioenergy production in North Karelia Finland.
This kind of study has some demands. For instance, this you should arrange enough basic information about low carbon society, climate change and work methods to get studying going. However, the most important part of this kind studying is the study visits. Therefore you should arrange students real-life work-related visits which are based on their topic. These visits should be arranged so that they give enough information for students to answer their work-related research question. You can also ask from these visit place about their opinion and ideas for the student’s research question.
The bioenergy group task was to figure out how to promote bioenergy production in North Karelia Finland. Their answer is in a form of a scientific poster and it is based on their case-study visits. Check their answer!
This group made also a video which to the same question in a more popular way. You can find the video underneath!
