Objectives Towards Low-Carbon Societies

Objectives of Towards Low-Carbon Societies project

The wide-ranging aim of the Towards Low-Carbon Societies project (TowardsLCS) is to create and empower higher educational structures which will achieve professionalism in the management of land use and landscape issues targeting the idea of a low-carbon society and, hence, preventing climate change.

The specific objectives of the project are:

  1. To elaborate on what and how land use and landscape issues are in focus in the partner countries (Finland, Poland and Spain).
  2. To design collaboratively a study module which meets the needs of the partners and future challenges of land use and landscape issues and testing it in the pilot courses.
  3. To enable the exploitation of produced deliverables into the other European countries and educational levels.

The topic of the project has strategic importance for all the partners and they share the interest to develop higher education through international cooperation.

The proposed project will fit perfectly into the strategies of the university partners. Like in the strategy of the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), environmental change and sufficiency of natural resources along with learning in a digitized society are mentioned as the most important general frames for the activities.

Likewise, one of the goals of Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) strategy is to educate highly skilled, entrepreneurial and initiative professionals creating new ideas and patterns of social life and being able to operate in a competitive global market.

The same idea includes also to the strategy of the University of Girona (UdG).
